Why mobile ordering?
In the last 6 months, there has been a huge focus and investment by companies like McDonalds, Dominos Pizza and Starbucks in their own mobile based ordering systems. You would think that most people would simply rock up to their local fast food restaurant and order and pay at the counter. Well times are a changing!
One of the biggest trends to his time poor people, particularly in their lunch break, is to avoid queues at their favourite local restaurant or fast food outlet. So it’s no surprise that customers are now placing their order from their mobile device before they even arrive at the restaurant. Well when you speak to the users of mobile ordering apps the most common response you get is that they feel special when they can walk straight to the front of the queue and collect an order they placed 5-10 minutes ago on route. More so, they have also paid for their meal and can now spend more time chatting with friends, rather than getting frustrated waiting in line.
B2B Mobile Ordering – the new frontier
Whilst many of the well known brands are rolling out Business to Consumer (B2C) mobile ordering systems, there is a rapidly growing sector of the market requiring Business to Business (B2B) mobile ordering.
The wholesale Food and Wine industry clearly sees the benefits of implementing mobile ordering, simply because most of their customers in this perishable goods market place orders on a daily or semi-daily basis. What is most prevalent in these industries is that the daily order is fairly similar each day or each week.
So it makes perfect sense that when a restaurant is looking through its pantry to re-order food items that are similar, then you need to make it really easy for them to place orders.
This is where customers can create pantry lists within the mobile ordering system so that all they need to do is to add the quantities they need and orders can be placed in less than 30 seconds.
B2B mobile ordering - will it help my business?
There are a number of key questions that you need to ask yourself if you are considering implementing a business to business (B2B) mobile ordering system. At SAAVI we help both small and large wholesale trade suppliers and distributors save thousands of dollars a month in ordering efficiencies by implementing mobile ordering.
The more you answer yes to any of these questions, the more likely you will benefit from a B2B mobile ordering system.
Do your trade customers:
- Already have an established trading account with you
- Generally place orders via phone, fax or email
- Place orders regularly (Daily or weekly)
- Consistently order a similar range of products or services
- Time is critical for order delivery
- Operate in low tech business space where staff does not have access to PC
- Ordering via an online ordering system is either inconvenient, to time consuming or difficult to use
- Regularly request credits due to incorrect shipments
- Commonly dispute your invoices due to incorrect pricing
- Delay paying their account due to invoicing issues
Gain a competitive advantage
One of the most compelling reasons to implement a B2B mobile ordering system is to provide your customers with an easy to use tool to place orders. If you make it easy, you’ll be amazed at how loyal your customers will be. You will increase the average order value, and reduce the likelihood of your customer switching supplier.
